ABOUT
"....Using my love for craft, local history and days of yesteryear I have now opened Prestonpans Soap and Craft Wear. I'm not just about soap, I make headwear, and I have a small unique range of vintage hats for hire. I also make bridal tutus for children and one-off unique clothing items for children and adults.
I love East Lothian and feel it's important to remember what each village or town was renowned for and respect local history. East Lothian was known for being a leader of industry; from pottery, brickworks, salt making, to soap making, fishing, beat keeping, bee keeping, farming, breweries and import to name a few. There was a thriving community of makers and shakers and luckily there are still many crafters and artisans all over East Lothian which is something I am proud to be part of.
My love for soap started when I was trying to find a skin friendly soap with no chemicals for myself and my family; being the craft loving person that I am, I decided to try and make some, and that is where it all started. I thought it fitting to bring soap making back to Prestonpans and East Lothian. I use traditional hot and cold process techniques and only the best quality essential oils. I have been making soap and various crafts including sewing over a number of years. I was given my first sewing machine when I was nine years old (a long time ago!) and I loved sewing and making things using my Gran's old curtains and old clothes. Thanks for reading and supporting me in my new venture. Feel free to contact me or pop into the studio".
